A Long History
The Aim to Kill Community was founded in December of 2006 by Alexander Campbell (Chalex4) after a clan he had run for a few years called BRS found itself outgrowing just Counter-Strike: Source matches and gaming. We are a UK based community although any English speakers are welcome to join. Joining the community is 100% free and contributions are completely voluntary. If you are interested in joining, please click here - the community looks forward to welcoming you!
Until June 2007 you might have known us as the C2G Community, however we had to change our name after a sponsorship deal fell through. Ever since then, we have been the ATK Community! We have continued to grow exponentially with our unique visitor statistics doubling almost every month. At the end of 2008, we had reached 11,288,206 hits throughout the year, with November and December receiving over 1.6 million hits each.
People often get confused with the difference between a community and a clan. The simple answer is that clans play matches and are usually focused on a single game. As a community we welcome all players of any game, and support players by offering advice along with free to play public servers and match servers wherever possible for our most popular games. If there is demand for a new server in a different game, we always try to get one. We allow clans to join the community, also free of charge, and use our resources to help them get into the gaming scene. In 2008 we also setup official gaming teams within the community, as some people were missing the competitive side of gaming with their friends against an opposing clan.
Many members from other communities never meet up in real life; we believe that this is an important part of being a community, for spreading the word about us and our sponsors, and having a great time. This is why we now are regulars at UK based LAN parties, or Festivals of Gaming as they are now called. We prefer the i-series which boasts at least 1,000 gamers as well as exhibitions, presentations and competitions, always making for a fun-packed event! In August 2007 we made our first appearence, attending Multiplay’s i31 at Newbury Racecourse with 6 members from the community. It was a booming success, and as a result 15 members of the community attended i34 in Summer 2008 for the long weekend. A year later, after the i34 video had finally been made, and we were back at i37 with our newest sponsors, Novint. We were given 3 free Novint Falcons & Pistol Grips, and in return we promoted them at the event by allowing anyone to come up and play with them. At the end of the event, they were randomly given away to D_K_Head and Paper Tiger. Click this link to see the pictures.
Over the years we have introduced many new features to the community. In 2008 we updated the site with a newer design, released ATK Cinema, started ATK Gaming Nights (every Friday 8-10pm), ATK prize draws and opened up advertising spaces. 2009 was a year for change as well with ATK Hosting becoming available, as well as Gallery and Downloads areas for all members. As ATK has transitioned into 2010, we are bigger and better than ever before, sporting our first Battlefield: Bad Company 2 server with high hopes for the remainder of the year. In recent news, we have just completed our move to a completely refreshed site and brand new contribution system! As always, if you have any suggestions we are happy to hear them here.
We would not be where we are today without the generous support of our excellent sponsors, INX-Gaming and UK Web.Solutions Direct. They have provided us with a firm base from which we can expand into new and exciting areas. If you're looking for game servers or web hosting, we highly recommend that you take a look at their respective sites.
Whether you are in a clan or just a casual gamer you will not regret joining the ATK Community today!
A Brief History History - by Bloo (17/02/2010)
-In the beginning Chalex created the forum and shoutbox.
-And shoutbox was without shouts, and empty, and non-posters stalked the empty pages of the forum. And the Will of Chalex created a rules and introductions thread.
-And Chalex said, let there be posters, and there were posters.
-And Chalex saw the posters and they were leet, and Chalex divided the posters from the non-posters.
-And Chalex called the posters Members, and the non-posters Guests. And the registration and email were the signing up process.
-And Chalex said, let there be subforums for threads, and let the subforums divide the threads from the other threads.
-And Chalex made the subforums, and divided the threads that were ontopic from the threads that were offtopic.
-And Chalex called the subforums good. And there was lol.
